Pyle Appointed to Four House Committees
1/19/2011

Ford City lawmaker joins Appropriations Committee

Rep. Jeff Pyle (R-Armstrong/Indiana) today announced that he has been appointed to serve on the Appropriations, Environmental Resources and Energy, Game and Fisheries, and Transportation committees for the 2011-12 legislative session.

“I look forward to addressing the difficult challenges that face Pennsylvania through my service on these committees,” Pyle said.  “I am confident that my work on these committees will benefit the residents of the 60th Legislative District.”

As the most powerful committee in the House, the Appropriations Committee is responsible for considering legislation that deals with raising or expending taxpayer dollars, including the annual state budget.

The Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is responsible for legislative oversight of more than 45 different environmental laws in the Commonwealth, which are administered by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

The Game and Fisheries Committee oversees the laws and regulations that impact fishing, hunting and boating across the Commonwealth.  This committee also has oversight of the Fish and Boat Commission and the Game Commission.

With Pennsylvania in need of significant funding to repair its roads and bridges, the Transportation Committee will be focused on this issue in the current session.  In addition, this committee oversees the Vehicle Code, relating to driver’s licensing, vehicle registration and inspections, the gasoline tax, and rules of the road; mass transit; airports; railroads; and funding for road and bridge repairs.

“My committee assignments are sure to keep me busy in the coming months,” Pyle said.  “The General Assembly has a full plate in front of it and I am eager to get to work to put Pennsylvania on the path to recovery.”
